Teddy Bears FAQs

How big of a teddy bear should I buy for my newborn niece?

The size of the teddy bear for a newborn does not really matter that much. The fact of the matter is that infants can’t do much with them anyway. However, in a couple of months – when the baby starts to develop motor skills – it might be best to have a smaller bear that can be touched and felt rather than a large one that might seem frightening.

What is inside of stuffed teddy bears?

Not all teddy bear manufacturers are alike when it comes to the material used inside of teddy bears. For the most part, many teddy bears are simply filled with cotton and then sewn up. However, there are other teddy bears that are filled with tiny beans. Some are filled with foam. Still others have a mixture of a few different materials inside of them. There is even one manufacturer that allows buyers to place a satin heart inside of the bear before it is sewn up.

Why are teddy bears so popular?

A teddy bear is one of the few toys that were around 150 years ago and was just as popular then as it is today. In the case of many people, a teddy bear was one of their first friends and one of the things that helped them feel safe when they were children. Now that these “children” have grown into adults, they are desirous for their children to become attached to a bear just as they were. Perhaps another reason for the popularity of these bears is the fact that these bears can be dressed and adorned in a number of different ways to accommodate the personal needs of each recipient.
